"spiritual mood lighting"

Voices.  The beautiful voice that rushes through the diesel breeze on the metro.  Like a silver pen that strikes the worn edges of this desk.  Or a church bell tolling the tale of two lives, lovers into one.  A sinking summer sun exploding into a milllion scarlet fragments as I shoot it down...   
With all the grace, beauty and magnificence of the simplest of all things that you wish you could see...every day.  But you don't, and that is what makes it all the better when they come and grace your mind, leaving you with a small imprint of the world you will step out into.   
And learn to enjoy.

A Small Cut of LifeIn my dreams, I stand in an open field. But the expanse is gone. For that is far too frightening, for I fear the ascent through the clouds, and I fear the fall into the void. When I raise my head the sky will crack, and light will flood the world. Metal fences will sizzle and deconstruct themselves. The earth will bake, the air will tingle and rip, and in my mind I will hear a symphony of a thousand perfectly tuned atonal chords, firing off in the distance. my book melted.
the words exploded.

So I rewound time
So that my pages were crisp and the
lines were new.
The glue still made your mind
a little stiff
when you inhaled.

Slowly, wandering noir corridors
I have come once again
to fulfill a promise.

And in due time
I will restore
this empire
rebuild the economy of words,
lines, and colour
until I am whole again.
